Time to be Thankful!
Time to curl up on the couch and just let ourselves relax. Good food is coming. Time for shorter days, comfy sweaters, boots, socks, scarves and all things cuddly! It's time for leaves and feathers, wreaths and smokey fires! Can you just smell the season!!?
Yesterday we talked about a polished holiday outfit. Today lets talk about something more country sweet.
The Look: Classic Country
So you're not the ultra sophisticated woman. Not all of us are or even want to be. Maybe you like to be a little more prepared for adventure. Maybe you plan on taking a walk through the forest on Thanksgiving, or going horseback riding, or just sit around the bonfire after dark. If you are, than you need to be prepared for the nip in the air. Once again start with a pair of skinny jeans. These are an all purpose backdrop for many looks. Next add a pair of flat boots. Because of the holiday think browns. This doesn't mean don't wear black, but brown feels more comfy. After you've settled on the boots, start thinking about a warm sweater with room to eat and breath. Something with stripes or a cable knit, maybe an Irish or Scottish air to keep your country sophisticated and not...well...redneck. Last, work with your accessories. Make sure you have a scarf to keep your neck warm and keep your look cute. With the scarf you want to keep your earrings subtle so they don't get tangled. Have fun with a statement ring. Something vintage inspired or earthy like flowers or leaves would set this look off well. Keep your purse rugged and fun.
The main thing to keep in mind with the Classic Country is to think more English Holiday than American Woodswoman. If you want to go more traditional American, than trade out the flat riding boots for cowgirl boots and the sweater for a chambray blouse and knit vest. Either way, you're ready for eating, fun, laughter and relaxing!
