| Goggles can be ornate! |
Everyone has costumes on the mind right now. Whether you enjoy dressing up in the spirit of the season or you have a little one to garb in something fun, costumes are not just for the month of October. There are lots of things you can take from over-dressing-a-theme and incorporate into your everyday wear. As you decide what to pretend to be, think about how you can take what you buy and blend it into your real life. As long as you stay away from very comical costumes you can do this easily! Besides the fact, if your budget feels a little tight, this is just plane smart! Over the next few weekends, Femme with teach you how to do this with three different looks: SteamPunk, Rocker and Military!
First, Steampunk.
SteamPunk is the fastest growing underground trend.

| Don't believe us? Check out Prada's Men's Collection this season! Total SteamPunk! |
Unlike goth or cyber punk, SteamPunk has a happy, adventurous tone to it. It goes for more browns and creams than black and purple. It looks at the world through rose colored glasses, and sees the silver lining instead of being all doom and gloom. SteamPunk hails from a fantasy world where steam instead of electricity became the main source of power. It's like if we all used 8-tracks instead of tape cassettes, or HD instead of blue-ray. SteamPunk attempts to answer the unique question of steam. With this sort of power life is all about gears instead of wires. Gears on watches, gears on belts, jewelry, and goggles! It is also about pipes and gold, copper, and silver metals. Anything that has to do with steam invades the SteamPunk look.
Due to the steam power idea, SteamPunk fashion incorporates anything from the Victorian Era to the early 20's as part of it's look. From pinstripes to long coats, bustiers, and lady-like booties, top hats and corsets, SteamPunk is all about grace, elegance and adventure!
Think about putting a SteamPunk outfit together this year and then shoot us a picture.
Tomorrow we will give you some examples of incorporating SteamPunk into your every day wardrobe.
