Now you know the importance of our selection process based upon yesterday's post.  You know how important to you and to us our choice of Unique, In Style items in Excellent Condition is to the consignment process.  So, what about bringing items in. 

Cleaned:  Femme doesn't require dry cleaning tags on each item.  We do look for items with no major damage, dirt, or spots.  We check underarms and cuffs, backs of collars and other high wear areas.  A clean item invites you to try it on.  A dirty one is cause for rejection.  Keep in mind, Femme does not prep items before they go out on the floor.  The more careful you are about them being clean the better. Check heels and toes of shoes, check handbags to make sure they are cleaned out.  Keep the word "boutique" in mind when you prepare your items.
Pressed:  Femme requires each item to be pressed before we will accept it.  Again, Femme does not do any pressing of your items here in the store.  We will pass on items which are excessively wrinkled.
On Hangers:  Femme asks that you bring your items in on hangers.  We prefer you to bring them in on hangers you don't need back.  You never know when we might have anywhere from 3 to 15 consignors in line behind you.  All the work you did of cleaning and pressing your items is wasted when they are folded in a bag.  Hangers preserve your work, make the process of examination much faster and smoother. It also guarantees that your items stay together.  When we have them brought in in bags, it may be a few hours or even days before we can get them up on hangers.  The opportunity to mix up your consignment or damage items is much higher if they aren't on hangers.

How does this help you?

Wider Audience: These requirements are pretty standard fare amongst consignment and resale boutiques.  If you are going to go through all that trouble, you should bring them to a place which works aggressively to sell them.  Consignment is a partnership between you and the store.  Presenting your things beautifully from the start encourages us to accept them and add them to our floor.  Your presentation is part of the process.
Nice Environment:  Do you know any woman who doesn't appreciate a clean and well organized environment?  Femme is committed to keeping the boutique top notch.  When you bring in your beautiful things you know you are helping other women feel special.  Some of them may be going through a divorce or maybe they just moved here - you never know.  Your presentation shows a love for others.
Local Economy:  There is nothing worse than making a mess in your own home.  We all live and love Fort Worth.  We all want it to be, and stay, a classy, fun, exciting place.  By bringing your items in Cleaned, Pressed, and On Hangers you are helping us accept those items and you are keeping Fort Worth awesome!  Even these little things play their part.
Money:  You can't make money through consignment if your items are not accepted.  Femme does not take folded, dirty, and wrinkled items.  So, this important step gets you closer to having your items accepted.  It also helps them sell.  If a customer has a choice between a crumpled tee and a pressed tee, they will choose the pressed tee every time.  This step gets you closer to having your items sell. 

Next time you are prepping things for Femme to check out, think about the woman who may be purchasing them sometime soon.  Think about adding a smile to her day, making her feel special, lifting her up.  You never know how one step which feels like a chore to you can make someone else's day!
