Continuing out discussion about the terms and conditions for consignment, the how, what, why and when if you will, today we will talk about what kind of things we look for.

There are three main categories we use to select our items.

Unique:  Femme did a survey several years ago of our customers.  We found that most of them were willing to invest a part of their clothing budget in keeping their classic and basic pieces up to date.  We found that they often purchased these types of items new.  What they wanted from us was unusual items.  They wanted to come in and find a whole handful of different tops and blouses to pair with the new black suit they just purchased.  Purchasing unique items on consignment made more budget sense as well.  If you aren't sure how often you might wear those funky designer trousers, better to purchase them on the consignment side for a 1/4 of the investment.  Armed with this knowledge, Femme passes on many basic and classic items, saving our room for unique and unusual pieces - exactly what our customers are looking for.
In Style:  Femme is not a vintage consignment boutique.  We choose piece which are within a five year range and focused on things no older than two years.  The vintage items we might choose are in the realm of handbags and jewelry.   We use the obvious change in cuts and material to help us distinguish the age of items.  We also use the style of the clothing label.  Most designers change their label design every few years.  This helps us gage the currency of the items.
Excellent Condition:  Femme demands excellent condition.  From buttons, to zippers, seams, hems and more, we check it all.  High wear areas like necks and cuffs.  Places your purse rubs like shoulders and hips.  We check, double check, and triple check to make sure our customers are getting the best we have to offer.

Local Economy:  Femme's focus on unique, stylish items in excellent condition lets us bring in pieces from our own local boutiques.  And, because you bring in your items, Femme has great local flare.  Consignment not only reinvests ex-treasures back into the local economy, it's becomes part of what creates the local culture! You are part of FW culture when you consign with us.
Money:  Femme's focus assures you that your designer items are being showcased with other designer items of equal quality and beauty.  This provides the boutique the opportunity to get a better price point for you.  When you are the only designer item on a rack, you seem over priced compared to the other everyday pieces.  When you are sharing space with beautiful pieces then the savings for the customer becomes more obvious.  Picky for us means better prices for you.
