"Oh baby it's...hot outside."
Even singing Chrismtas carols with the AC cranked all the way down doesn't cool any of us off these days. But, fashion waits on no man, woman, or weather. The fall items are coming out and are filling the shelves. Now is the time to bring in fall items!
What qualifies as fall and what should wait? Is it really that important to seperate the fall and winter seasons?
Fall: These items are generally darker colors, wool, cashmere and heavy duty fabrics. They tend to have long sleeves and long legs. Cable knits, hoodies, velvet and crepes are fall staples. This season we are seeing a mix of military and victorian, bright colors like blue, and velvet as a major staple. We are seeing strange patterns being mixed together! Scarves and boots are already selling for fall, and plaid is big. Jean jackets and jeans are also great now!
As we talked about yesterday, the short sleeved items and the dark floral patterns are transitionals. So are the heavy linens. These items are great now. What we specify as Fall are things we carry through the winter season, right through January. Here in Texas, we wear our Fall fashions through the whole season and Femme is totally on board with providing you lots to choose from.
Winter: This generally consists of your heavy items like coats. Long coats, suits made of thick wool, flannel and leather clothing are best saved until mid-September. You will see some early bird coats already on our shelves, but later is better. These items are loved by all, but when we have very mild winters they don't sell real well. Be aware of that as you think about what you want to bring in and when. If you're not sure, feel free to call us or stop by and ask.
As a consigner you need to weigh two options:
1) Your heavy winter items will sell better later in the season.
2) We will accept these winter items limitedly now, so if you need the room and you don't care about how much you get, now might be a good time.
Your choice.
Now is the time for Transitional and Fall items. The Transitional will be accept through the whole month of August.
