How to Wear: Trousers & Jeans!

For generations women were regulated to skirts and dresses, the closest they were allowed to anything remotely similar to pants was a split riding skirt...Let Freedom Reign!!!

No longer are our closets limited to beautiful skirts and dresses. We can now add to our selection Jeans and Trousers! How much fun is that!

So...how about finding a pair of pants which actually fit? (Maybe our skirt wearing matriarchs knew how difficult finding the perfect pair of pants would be.)

A few steps can make things easier:

1. Know your brands! Take an afternoon and really get to know how different brands fit. Visit their boutiques via Femme's shelves and see what works for you.

2. Watch out for the fit signs. If you like low waisted then check the length of the zipper and vice versa...if you like a higher rise, check the length of the zipper. If you only want a skinny jeans don't try on the flared legs and vice versa again. Don't liked cropped pants? Step back and look at the hem lengths before you start grabbing things to try on.

3. Try on different sizes. How many women pass up the opportunity to own a perfect pair of pants just due to self imposed size limitations? So many of us have done this. We recommend you try on both the sizes around yours. Go one up and one down and search through those as well. Don't be turned around by Designer Jeans sizing. Just find a cut you like and try it!

You have a dressing room full of jeans and trousers to try on but what do you do now? What are you supposed to look for?

1. Comfort: If you have to live in them all day they should be comfortable. Not sloppy but breathable!

2. Avoid Whiskers and Muffin Tops: The crinkle at the front of your trousers is not because they are too small or too big, but because the zipper is cut longer from waist to instep than you are. Avoid whiskers, the pants should lay flat in the front. Muffing Tops are the bane of low waisted jeans. It is worth trying on several pairs to find one that hits you, personally, in the right spot. For some women that is going to be higher and some lower. Either way, please, please, please, don't accept the muffin top as necessary to be In STYLE!

3. Legs: Skinny legs are perfect for showcasing shoes, giving you a long lean look or wearing with boots, but if you tend to carry your weight in your thighs then they may not compliment your figure. Wide leg jeans will help you feel more balanced and well proportioned.

Now you have pants which fit! Yippie! Do you have all the walks of your life covered? Work, Play, Date, Weekend? This is going to look different for each of us but there is no excuse for bad looking pants whether your a uniform wearing team member, or a chic executive your pants should always fit you right! So check your closet for these must haves.

1. Basic black: These are the pants to invest in. Find a beautifully cut, perfect fitting pair in a nice wool or wool blend and buy two pairs. You will wear them again and again.

2. Designer Jeans: Every woman needs a pair of designer jeans. Nothing makes you feel like a million bucks as fast as a pair of designer jeans. And in our denim obsessed country, thank goodness, you can dress them up and dress them down with heels and a jacket...the President of Chanel does so why can't you?

3. Something Evening: Tuxedo pants may not fall in the "must have list" for you but if you ever find a pair which fit right, grab them up. From funky date nights, art shows, operas and just a girls night out, you will wear them again and again.

Feminine Fashions keeps a wide range of Trousers, Crops, Cargos and Jeans on hand. Stop in and search our racks, use our dressing rooms, and find the perfect pants for you. With 100+ items going out every day, we are sure to have the Must-Have pair for you!
