Coffee Shop Report

As many of you know, I love and support our troops.  This Thanksgiving I'm very thankful for each man and woman out there on the front lines defending our freedoms and our interests.  I'm thankful for their willingness to stand shoulder to shoulder with one another and battle against those who would attack us, harm us, or endanger us as citizens.  Not only did my brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle, grandfather and many cousins serve in our military, but many of my past relatives fought in our wars.
I appreciate the sacrifices they have made more than can ever be said.
Words are not enough.
As the member of an extended military family and with plenty of friends who have loved ones serving over seas, I also wish to thank the mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and nieces of our troops specifically.  You cook, you pray, you plan, you give, you sacrifice everyday so that we are safe!  You keep track of where units are and pray for them.  You connect with other families and help them.  You make sure our soldiers are honored when they come home!  Your sacrifices are not unnoticed.  Your sacrifices are not unappreciated.
If you need a reminder of what our boys and girls face, pick up a copy of We Were Soldiers Once, Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, or even some sci-fi films like Battle: Los Angeles.  Take a few hours of your day and really watch what our troops go through.  Try to put yourself in their shoes.  If you do that you will be even more thankful for the mental and emotional sacrifices they make.  Many of our wounded have FB pages which keep you updated on their progress as they learn to adjust to life without limbs, eyesight, hearing or just try to cope with the psychological trauma of what they have seen.
Don't let this Thanksgiving get so hectic you forget that there are men and women far from home and putting their life on the line for you.
Support The Troops!

"When I go home people'll ask me, "Hey Hoot, why do you do it man? What, you some kinda war junkie?" You know what I'll say? I won't say a...word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand that it's about the men next to you, and that's it. That's all it is." - Black Hawk Down
