Costume 101: Rocker Chic 2



If you are an 80's girl you know and love Joan Jett. 
Just look at how totally cool she is! 



Yesterday we looked at the range Rocker Chic covers. We listened to some music, and we thought about all the fun things we could do with costumes.  Today, we're going to talk about how to take those pieces and wear them everyday.  Obviously wearing birdcages or other strange things are not feasible in the office, sales, or hospital.  A retail agent wearing a Madonna Viking bra is not gonna sell many houses, or the right kind of houses. 

But, there are things you can do with the Rocker Chic look in your work and weekend wear.

Love her? This woman has enough flare for all of us!
Take her look for the 31st, then tone it down for the rest of the year!



 If you do the modern Flo look it's easy to make a long dress work for a date night.  You might wanna add some big jewelry to toughen it up or some leather bracelets.  Lady Gaga and Flo's major rings can make your office wear a lot more fun!  Think about it!  Do you dread having to wear the same suit to work all the time?  Add some stud jewelry!  Pile on some leather and grommet pieces under your jacket and let it just peek out.  Set yourself apart by wearing major rings to your office meeting.  It will turn heads and brighten your work space. 



The queen of strange herself!  Lady Gaga knows how to make a costume!



 Let's talk about leather!  Of course wearing a leather jump suit that's bright blue is not appropriate in any office...but a blue leather skirt, which fits just right?  That might work.  Do you do sales?  Then take that leather bustier you bought for your costume and pair it with a tweed suit. The tweed sets it off and makes it polished instead of rebellious.  Or maybe you went for the motorcycle jacket option?  Ladies, girls are wearing those with their evening wear on the red carpet!  You can reproduce this same look with a long silk blouse, skinny jeans, boots and that jacket you wore to be Madonna!  How much fun with that be for casual Friday??  What about the bustier and full skirt Gothic look?  Once again, split it up.  Wear the bustier with your skinny jeans, riding boots and a jean jacket.  This tames the look.  Take that full skirt and pair it with a band tee and sandals for a tough but sweet look!



And then there is always the uber rock girl. 
Nightwish is much like Within Temptation.  Go for it!



The main appeal of Rocker Chic is the combination of Soft and Edgy.  You take something feminine like a long gown and pair it with boots, leather jackets, leather jewelry, or something spiky.  This is the Rocker Chic look.  On Halloween go be Joan Jett, Madonna, Amy Lee or Lady Gaga!  Have fun and be over the top.  On November the first, take those edgy pieces and pair them with your Momwear, your uniform, your suit!  Now you rock all the time!
