Costume 101: Military 2

After the costume party is over, what do you do with your military jacket or your metals and ribbons?  Maybe you have a fur lined jacket or just a lot of army green?  While we wouldn't suggest putting camo on your face and taking a toy gun to work - unless it's a costume party - we would suggest some great fashion ideas for your military styled jacket.
Double breasted jackets are a very sharp look for the office.  Pair them with a fitted skirt or cigarette jeans for a crisp look.  If your jacket has lots of ribbon designs than try it on date night with some distressed jeans.  It has a military/Michael Jackson feel that you can make very modern and daring.
What about combat boots??? Well, that look takes a lot of moxie to wear during the day.  Try it with skinny jeans for a girl next door look or boyfriend jeans for a slouchy look.
The jewelry?  Military buttons and pins are very patriotic.  Wear them on modern cut jackets, on your handbag, or even fix them in your hair.  It's never a bad time to support your country!
Most military inspired items tend to be conservative. Don't be afraid of that if your a little more Pop and Bang!  As these two pictures illustrate, conservative is plenty of fun when you have fun with it.  Take that jacket and pair it with shorts, tights and ankle boots.  Wear a baggy, monochromatic outfit of army green!  Pick any century of military history and bring it into our time with flare and fun.  So much of our style is still influenced by the Old West and the Civil War.  Why, even Roman gladiator sandals have a military influence!   Expand your horizons ladies and use this time of dressing up to do it!
Don't wait for the sky to fall, or a magic spell, or some other source of inspiration when you can find it in your day in and day out life!  Every holiday, event, meeting and work day should be an opportunity to explore, grow, change and be inspired to reach beyond yourself!
Life is amazing!  Live it with beauty ladies!
