The Coffee Shop Report

Abby here...ready for fall with my coffee!
I know, I know. It's still hot. How can we talk about fall when it's 105 outside? Well, the funny thing about Texans and fashion is we love winter clothes. We love sweaters, boots, cashmere, suede, leather. We love big coats even though we never need them. We love scarves and gloves and all that jazz. But, the real reason we love winter clothes is quality! Quality. Summer clothing is flimsy, light-weight, and wears out fast. Winter clothes are heavy, warm, long lasting, and a much higher quality.

I'm no different. I blame it on my Mom, she's from Vermont. :-) I love snow. I love Christmas. And I love fall and winter. They are my two favorite seasons. So, I'm really excited about the change of season.

How do I approach the change of season. Well, I kind of get a theme in my head. Last year it was Cardigan layers, the year before that Librarian Chic was the name of my game. This year I'm thinking Tweed, Plaid, boots and a little SteamPunk. I even picked up a watch on a chain! Can't wait to wear that...I'm gonna need to get a vest.

I not only pick out a personal theme, but I look over the "hot" looks to see what I like. This year the military is fun, the Victorian lends to the SteamPunk, and the mixing of patterns looks super fun. I'm sure I'll incorporate a lot of these trendy looks into my wardrobe.

As I add to my wardrobe, change it, cull it and reintroduce new looks, I take pictures of my outfits and store them on Facebook. This lets me get feedback from family and friends, my sisters are great about advice, and it lets me look back over a season and see how well I stuck with my theme. It’s fun to watch your look evolve over an entire season.

So...I'm hunting for tweed even though it’s hot. I want some plaid...more girl-next-door-ness, and boots. Boots. Boots. The great thing about boots is you can start to wear those with little tank tops long before there is ice on the ground.

Don't be surprised when you see fall items hit the floor this morning, and don't be surprised if I'm in boots and a tank top!!!

Fall is on my mind even without a chill in the air!!
