Story. We each have a story to tell, and we each have different ways of telling it. From the car we drive, the home we go to at night, to the clothes we wear, we each tell a story. The story of us. Ourselves. So let me tell you my story, as an example, through two of things:
Bag: My handbag is generally big, always structured, and designer. What does this say? I'm busy and have lots of things going on in my crazy life as the Store Manager, Wife, Sister, Daughter and Auntie. I need a big bag to carry all my stuff! I'm also a writer. I carry lots of notebooks and pens with me so I can take notes when they come. It's structured cause I'm a little...a lotta...OCD. I like things just so. I schedule times to be spontaneous. :-) Designer bags appeal to me because of the quality. It's not about the price tag, or the name recognition, it's about the fact that they are well made. Designer bags also provide an emotional pick up, so I use one every day!
Shoes: Boots are my favorite shoes. I like boots cause I feel secure in them. No wobbly heel. I like the strength of them. The Story my boots tell? I'm going, going, going, and boots keep my feet very solidly on the ground. I'm also a bit of a klutz, so I tend to injure myself less when I wear boots. But, boots are also worn by adventurers. I write about adventurers and I'm a bit of an adventurer myself. Boots tie me to all the stories of people who faced great odds and overcame them!
Here are just two examples of how what you wear tells the story of you. And you thought you were just getting dressed in the morning. Your clothing, shoes, handbags and jewelry communicate something about you to the world.
