What to wear, what to wear to a wedding???

Hands join in a promise of love and loyalty...until parted at the last of life.  It's a beautiful and powerful commitment to another person.  A wedding is a personal occasion, meant to showcase the joining of two individuals.
So what do you wear to a wedding as a guest?  What is appropriate and what is not.
Funny Enough...it is similar to the funeral on several levels.  Just nix the conservative part.  When you pick out something to wear to a wedding you need to think about several things.  What time of day is it?  What kind of food is being provided?  These give you clues as to how formal the event is going to be.  Is the wedding outside?  This can help you decide what to wear.
Knowing the bride or groom is a big help.  Remember this is their day.  Do nothing to steal their thunder, in any way!
That means don't over dress and don't under dress.
Knowing the bride is into eclectic and vintage things suggest you will be safe in your mustard yellow dress and funky shoes.  If the groom is into a western look then grab your boots.  The couples favorite band is Metallica?  Just plan to enjoy the music, don't dress based on that... :-)  Your best friend is getting married and always loved your green dress - wear it!  Your parents are renewing their vows?  Be the elegant grown up they raised you to be.
Long dresses, short dresses, jeans, trousers, color, black...its all about how you put it together.
Keep it personal!!!
The most important key to dressing for an event is to make sure you feel confident in what you are wearing; that you're honest about who you are.  Mix that with your love for the one's who are the  focus of the event, and what you enjoy about them most.  These keys will guide your selection.

The rest is just putting the clues together, making that phone call if you need help, and having a good time.  This is their day.  Have fun.  No worries!
