It is said that you call tell a lot about a man by his shoes. Shoes speak volumes about who we are and our style. Beautiful shoes are everywhere, and they are so much fun. As women we often buy shoes that are fun but not practical and only get a wear or two out of them.

The key to buying great shoes that will be worn time and again falls into the following three categories: FUNCTION, FORM, FIT

Function: Consider your life style. Were you once a ‘disco diva’ partying late into the night wearing sky high heels, but now have a family and spend your time chasing kids and running errands? Do you stand on your feet all day? If so, it is time to stop buying the four inch and go for something more practical. If a desk job allows you to wear heels or you find them comfortable and easy to function in, then go for it. Having a variety of shoes is necessary, but a closet full of heels doesn't make since if you live in flats and flip flops.

Form: No need to wear sneakers best suited for sports with so many great options. Shop for stunning sandals, beautiful ballerinas or stylish sneakers. If you prefer comfort with a heel, try a wedge. They give height without much pressure on your foot. Heels are great for going out and special occasions, so always have a suitable pair that you can wear.

Fit: No matter what your life style or what form of shoes you love the most important thing to consider is fit. If shoes don't fit they won't be comfortable and you won't wear them. Your foot should fit in a shoe without spilling over on the sides or in the back. Make sure the shoes aren't falling off your feet when you walk or cause undue stress on your feet -- a turned ankle is never pretty. When trying on shoes take your time and walk around the store, making sure to test the shoes on hard surfaces as well as carpet.
