Style
Are you a woman of style? Do you enjoy a sophisticated look?
There are some very important steps to being a stylish woman.
Step 1: Fit. Fit is more important than trend. How an article of clothing fits your figure is far more important than the trend. You may not enjoy the reanimating of the cigarette trouser but you know how to wear a boot cut or flared trousers and you know it suits and balances your figure. That is what is important. The cut of a jacket, the fit of a knit, the proper closing of a button-up blouse, and the right length of a pair of trousers are key to looking polished!
Step 2: Quality. Quantity is not better than quality. It would be better to have less in your closet then be bursting at the seams with inexpensive, low-quality items. Look for natural material like wool, cashmere, cotton, silk, linen and blends of all the above. If you go with a snythetic make sure it is done by a designer known for quality. Check hems and seams to make sure the stitching is staying together and check for pilling and holes every season to keep your look urban.
Step 3: Color. You need to know what colors look brilliant on you, which colors you can get away with and what you should avoid. Some colors can be worn with the right lipstick but others will turn you green or wash you out. Have a good friend or a professional give you some guidance on the colors which are best for you. With the right colors you always look awake and ready to go!
Step 4: Accents. From real pieces to bold statements, your accents communicate the special parts of you! Make sure your're honest and well executed. Make sure your pieces compliment you and one another and don't fight for dominance. Whatever you put on should always draw the eye of the person looking at you right back at your face!
Step 5: Trend. Now that you have clothing which fits you, is of the best quality, a perfect color and accented well, then it is time to worry about trend. Look for long term trends or just one or two things that are a mark of the season. For instance...invest in one pair of trendy, quality boots this season and then add your pearls to keep the look "In". Pair with pearls and your best looking jeans. Pair with something green! Green is a wonderful color this season. If green is not one of your colors don't wear it! Go with one of the other seasonal trends.
